About

The Dart Pilates Story

From Just Be Fit to Dart Pilates

Dart Pilates began in 2005 as Just Be Fit, a Personal Training business working within a corporate fitness environment. Over the years, Justine completed training in Anatomy and Physiology, Nutrition, Personal Training, Yoga and other areas of fitness and wellbeing.

In 2010, she enrolled with Merrithew Mindful Movement to complete their STOTT Pilates training. The contemporary approach, which draws on modern scientific research, was what appealed to her most. After more than 200 hours of learning, observation, classes and exams, Justine became certified in Mat Pilates.

In 2016, Justine and her family relocated to Devon. With a growing focus on Pilates, Just Be Pilates naturally evolved, moving from village halls and local sports facilities to eventually having a studio of its own.

The Journey

Growing a Passion for Pilates

In 2021, Justine completed her Reformer training, opening up a new chapter for the business. Then, in October 2023, an opportunity arose to create her own studio in Little Dartmouth. The chance to work from such a beautiful space, surrounded by the stunning landscape overlooking Start Bay, was impossible to resist.

Dart Pilates was born from that journey — bringing together Reformer, Mat and Cadillac Pilates, alongside Yoga and wellbeing, in a peaceful and welcoming setting.

Our Philosophy

Mindful Movement for Everyday Life

In today's fast-paced world, Justine believes that mindful movement is an important part of our daily routine. Her passion is helping others experience the benefits of Pilates and develop positive exercise habits that can become part of everyday life.

The contemporary approach to Pilates continues to evolve as we learn more about the human body, and Justine is passionate about continuing to learn, develop and share that knowledge with her clients.

Meet the Team

The Dart Pilates Team

Dart Pilates is supported by a small team of experienced and passionate teachers, each bringing their own knowledge, experience and approach to mindful movement. Together, we create a welcoming environment where everyone can develop their practice and enjoy the benefits of Pilates.

Justine

founder

I travelled around the world in 2003-2005 discovering Pilates at a Fitness Expo in Sydney, already hooked on fitness and nutrition I loved the mindful way of moving, it literally changed the way I workout in the gym, run, in all aspects of my life. The equipment is so versatile, the Mat can be more challenging than the Reformer as it can support you, the Reformer adds resistance so offers a more strengthening way of exercising, the cadillac is great for private clients along with the other pieces of equipment, barrel and chair. I am constantly learning and sharing with you all.

Steph joined in 2024, after moving to Kingsbridge and realising there were very few Reformer spaces she decided to complete her training with Breathe Education. Sharing her love and enthusiasm for the Reformer, if Steph is not teaching she can be found out walking dogs or in her campervan.
